The reigning Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton sealed the pole position in his home race, that is the British Grand Prix on Saturday with Mercedes. His team mate and rival Nico Rosberg who is also in the race for the title will start second alongside Hamilton.

Red Bull’s teenage talent from Netherlands, Max Verstappen finished third with his Australian Ateam mate Dani Ricciardio coming in fourth to fill in the second row. Kimi Raikonnen who recently announced a one-year contract extension with Ferrari finished fifth.

Hamilton secured the pole for the fourth time at Silverstone however this one came off due to a superb last lap after his initial effort in the final phase was deleted since he has exceeded the track limits. This is the 55th time in his career that he has secured the pole position in a Grand Prix.

If four poles weren’t suffice, Hamilton will be gunning for his fouth title at Silverstone on Sunday, and if he manages to win, it will be hat-trick of victories in his home race. He will also be looking to reduce Rosberg’s lead in the title tally where his team mate is ahead with 11 points.
