Last year’s runner-up Haryana Hammers are eager to maintain their winning streak in the Patanjali Powervita Pro Wrestling League season 2. However, they will face a stiff challenge in the form of Jaipur Ninjas who have produced some remarkable performances this season.

Both teams have already made it to the semifinals but this encounter will be about gaining a psychological edge over each other while going into the knockout stage. Hammers have beaten Mumbai, UP and Delhi, while Ninjas reigned supreme against Punjab, Delhi and UP and only lost their encounter against Mumbai.

In the 57kg weight category, Utkarsh Kale and Sandeep Tomar will be the highlight. Sandeep, the more experienced being an Asian Champion and an Olympian will fight against the youth sensation Utkarsh. The two grapplers faced each other during the nationals, where Utkarsh had given a tough fight to his experienced opponent.

Haryana will bank on its icon player, World Championship silver medallist Abdusalam Gadisov and World Champion Sofia Mattsson and Olympics Bronze Medalist Marwa Amri in the women’s category, making them a force to reckon with. On the other hand, Jaipur will rely on performances from Ritu Phogat and Jenny Fransson of Sweden.

Haryana co-owner Bhupendra Singh said, “We respect each and every opponent but we are confident of emerging as winners in this match.”

Jaipur team co- owner Ram Gupta believes that the real winner is wrestling. “So far the wrestling enthusiasts have enjoyed our team’s performances and we will try to up our game in the upcoming matches,” he said.
