Kerala Blasters have announced the signing of former Manchester United defender Wes Brown for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Wes Brown’s signing can be attributed to new head coach Rene Meulensteen, who has worked with the defender during his time with the Red Devils.
The Englishman was training with Macclesfield Town at the end of his contract with Blackburn before signing for the ISL side.

Brown spent 19 years of his professional career at Manchester United. He came through the ranks at the club and won five Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues with the Red Devils. Upon departing the Old Trafford outfit in 2011, he joined Sunderland and played at Championship club Blackburn Rovers last season. Brown spent five seasons at the Stadium of Light, making a total of 87 appearances for the side.
Kerala Blasters are on the verge of completing another massive transfer in the form of Dimitar Berbatov, according to sources. Brown and Berbatov won the Premier League with Manchester United during Alex Ferguson’s time at the club; and could reunite with another of United’s former coaching staff member, Rene Meulensteen, at Kerala Blasters.
Talks with Berbatov had seemingly hit a roadblock following the striker’s steep wage demands; but it is believed that a consensus is close to being reached between the two parties.

If Kerala Blasters rope in Berbatov, they are automatically elevated to one of the major title contenders for next season’s Indian Super League.
